Our purpose is deeply ingrained in us. It’s the core reason for why we are here. Yet, a lot of people don’t ever fulfill, or even realize their life’s purpose. They spend their whole lives doing the wrong things, never doing what they were meant to do. Why does this happen?
Why do so many of us deny our purpose? Why do we accept our mediocre and unfulfilling lives so easily? Why aren’t we being true to ourselves? Why don’t we allow our reason for living to drive us?
The short answer, fear.
We are afraid of what it may mean to accept our purpose and we act in accordance with that fear.
We doubt our abilities, we believe we will fail, we think that we’re not worthy or that someone else could do it better.
I believe that most people deny their purpose because they don’t think they are worthy enough of living the life of their dreams.
Here’s the truth, not only are you worthy enough to fulfill your purpose, you were made to do just that. You’re not here to live as some shell of your true self. You’re not here to be this small person with an average life. You’re not here to just squeak by, barely make an impact and die unfulfilled. You’re here to uncover, accept, master and share your unique greatness.
Your purpose, your deepest passion, the thing that keeps calling out to you no matter how hard you try to ignore it, that is who you really are. By not acting on your purpose, by not trusting your passion, by not listening to that voice that calls out to you, you are denying yourself.
There’s a reason why you don’t feel fulfilled in your job, there’s a reason why you’re unhappy, there’s a reason why you don’t feel like you love yourself, it’s because you’re denying you are meant to be.
One of the strangest things I’ve seen in people, myself included, is how we hold onto our fears and our doubts harder than we hold onto our purpose. How bizarre is that? We hold onto our doubts and fears with this formidable grip, yet we can’t even seem to grasp the concept of our purpose.
We’re holding onto the things that make us feel bad with this remarkable commitment and fervor, and we are allowing our true purpose to slip through our fingers.
There is an epic battle going on inside of us and most of us don’t even realize it. It’s a battle between who we are choosing to be and who we were chosen to be. And for most of us, who we are choosing to be has the upper hand.
There is something greater inside you. We all know it, some more than others, but we all know it on some level. This greatness just wants to be realized and released. It wants to be recognized and shared. That’s its purpose. As far as what you are meant to share or how you are meant to share it, that’s unique to you. You can put your own unique spin on it.
At the risk of sounding repetitive or cliché, you need to get out of your own way. There is something you are meant to be doing that you’ve denied yourself the space to explore. There is something within you that is far greater than the idea you have built of yourself, and it is just waiting to be discovered.
Stop denying your purpose. Allow yourself to be who you were meant to be.
