A lot of us make decisions on auto-pilot, without thinking. We meander around with little to no direction and passively accept whatever comes our way, even if it’s not what we wanted. Instead of making decisions based on where we want to go or what we want to do, we allow our decisions to be made unconsciously and we end up either in the same old places or in places we never wanted to be in the first place.

I think that if we are honest with ourselves, we know what we’d like to be doing or where we’d like to go, at the very least we have a vague idea, but we’ve let that idea take the backseat and instead have allowed our minds to run on auto-pilot.

Choosing to make conscious decisions will flick off the auto-pilot switch and put you back in the driver’s seat.

Maybe some people don’t want to be in the driver’s seat. Maybe some people would prefer to have as little responsibility for the outcome of their lives as possible, and so they allow their decisions to be made for them. However, for those of you who find yourselves wandering aimlessly through life, never ending up where you want to be and desperately wanting to get somewhere meaningful, this ought to help.

The key is to be conscious about where you want to go in life. Get a clear image in your head of where you want to go, who you want to be etc. We need to become conscious and clear about what we want to do and then we can start working toward it.

The moment you become conscious about where you want to go, you can start to consciously shape your decisions based on your desired outcome.

The more conscious you are of your needs and your desires, the better. This will enable you to make the decisions that will help you get where you want to go. If you are totally conscious of your desired outcome, then your decisions will reflect that. You’ll see clearly how each decision affects your outcome and you can make each decision with the outcome in mind. You won’t make the wrong decisions because you’ll be aware of how making the wrong decisions leads you further away from your goals. Every decision you make will be purposeful and full of intention.

Switch off the auto-pilot. You know where you want to go and making conscious and deliberate decisions will help you get there.
